About

The WVU Women’s Rugby Football Club was re-founded in 2000, after disbanding somewhere in the early 80’s, by a group of girls looking to play rugby at a competitive level in West Virginia. Lindsey Parker was one of the founding members and eventually a coach for the team. Initially WVU did not find much success on the pitch. However, they became a tight knit group thanks to the sport’s emphasis on teamwork and camaraderie. The team continued to improve and competed in the Division I Midwest Final Four during the 2003-2004 season. Since then, they have carried on the tradition started in 2000 and continued finding success competing throughout the Midwest and along the East Coast. With alumni of nearly 100 former players, WVU Women’s Rugby continues to grow and show young girls how rugby can be a way of life!
We are currently recruiting more players! No matter what your fitness level or experience with sports is—you can play rugby! While we teach all of the basics of rugby at practice, we emphasize teamwork and camaraderie on and off the field. Our girls bond over community service and promoting the incredible sport of rugby. If you are looking for a unique team sport experience, if you want to meet a bunch of really cool people, if you want to get fit in the most fun way possible, PLAY RUGBY!
