Prospective Players
Rugby is played with two teams of 15 players competing against each other in two, 40-minute halves. Each position of the team has a specific job and purpose on the field, and most everyone can find a position that allows them to use their own personal strengths to help the team.
It is a full contact, fast-paced, and competitive game, with deep-rooted traditions in sportsmanship and camaraderie. Somewhat of a mixture between soccer and football, the players use a combination of carrying, passing, kicking, and grounding the ball to move it down the field (or pitch) to score points with as little stoppage of play as possible. It’s an EXTREMELY FUN game to learn and has potential to become a way of life!
The WVU Women’s Rugby team is always looking for new players! The team was re-founded in 2000 and has since then reached Division I Final Four, competed in various tournaments from New Orleans, LA to Washington DC, and made friends from all walks of life.
